A Rainy Day Maternity Session in Roanoke, Virginia

When Hannah contacted me about her maternity photos, I was so excited!! In her very first email she mentioned ‘lighting’ and that always makes me giddy!! As a natural light photographer I am ALL about the perfect light, and when my clients appreciate that, too— it’s amazing!! I am so grateful that Hannah and Justin were put into my life as clients, because they are so sweet and so much fun!!

Also, they love rain!! Most of my sessions this summer were rainy or cloudy…you’d think when it says 15% chance of rain it probably wouldn’t rain…but it does…and it did…all summer long, HA!! But Hannah and Justin embraced the rain!! As we were chatting about whether or not to call off her session (due to the weather, of course), Hannah shared with me that it rained for their engagement photos, it rained on their wedding day, and it rained for most of their honeymoon!! So, it was only fitting that it was raining on the day of her maternity session! ;) We decided to go for it and got a few great shots in between downpours!

And y’all, I am SO glad that we did, because Hannah & Justin’s baby boy decided to make an early arrival!! Little Jackson was welcomed into the world 5 weeks early! Right now he’s in the NICU because he isn’t quite strong enough to go home, yet. If you’re a pray-er, I ask that you pray with me for Hannah, Justin, and little Jackson as he continues to grow and gain strength and as their whole family navigates this beautiful (and unexpected!) time of their lives!!

I’m looking forward to meeting their little cutie when we do his newborn photos down the road!!
