I met up with Jocelyn and Zach on Virginia Tech’s campus where Zach is in medical school for their anniversary session, and right away I could tell how much these two loved each other. It’s that easy, no matter what, through thick & thin kind of love, and it was so fun to photograph!
Jocelyn and Zach have known each other for a while…in fact, they’re high school sweethearts! (Robert and I started dating in high school, too, and it’s always fun to meet fellow high school sweethearts!) They actually met on a mission trip in New Orleans right after hurricane Katrina. Then they dated long distance for a little while! This year will be their 10 year dating anniversary and their one year wedding anniversary! Two big milestones! (By the way- they got married last year in St. Lucia…how amazing is that?!!)
As we chatted I learned that Jocelyn is a nurse with a crazy schedule and Zach is in med school, so their schedules are pretty busy during this season of life! At the end of our session Jocelyn said that it was the most time they’d spent together just being together— not studying or anything- in a while! That made me start thinking about how important it is to capture these seasons on camera so that my clients can look back on them and remember what was going on at the time! Jocelyn and Zach will probably remember this crazy season forever, but they’ll look back on these images and remember that even though it may have been super busy and stressful at times, they loved each other so well through it all!
The support and love I witnessed in just a couple of hours with these two was something special, and I am so honored that they asked me to capture some anniversary images for them!
P.S. They brought their fur babies along so that we could grab a few shots with them during their session, and they’re so cute! So, keep an eye out as you scroll through for Sunny, Sweet Pea, and Snickers! ;)
